That time of the year again

hmm.... Where was I..?

Christmas time again. Japanese don't really celebrate christmas. The shopowners try their best to decorate their shops though (in order to attract tourists, I guess). The New Year's is a bigger thing over here. We have school vacation from the 27th of December to the 7th of January. I will attend school on Christmas day and what is more, I have a presentation in the Culture class, with some other guys, on special Kyoto cuisine. Fun, fun, fun.

On Christmas day, Japanese people eat Christmas cake.
Around Christmas time, Japanese people go and eat at KFC.
2 fun facts about this crazy country.

Went the other day to a pizza place. First time since I've been to Japan. The pizza they served was not far from 'Ömmupizza', like you can buy in grocery stores in Iceland. Not bad, but kinda lacking in the 'good' department. Going to a pizza place isn't really a story in itself, so why am I mentioning it? Because there I tried pizza with custard and chocolate and then another pizza with custard, one little piece of strawberry and one marshmallow.
I shit you not. Wasn't all that bad, either. Weird.

Went to visit a hip hop clothing store I noticed downtown. Had to go up a flight of narrow stairs to get there. Inside there was a Jamaican at the counter, taking care of the shop. I probably don't need to spell it out for you, but he was black. I checked out some of the clothing, but didn't find anything for me. Too big and flashy. That didn't stop the shopkeep for trying to sell me all kinds of weird shit that would never have suited me. He then added 'I will give you a discount, one foreigner to another', in his Jamaican accent. Around here, the foreigners, or gaikokujin, are all pretty much in the same category. This means that me and him are on the same level when it comes to skin color. This means that I am black in Japan.
Q.ed.

Have seen a bit more of Kyoto since my last update, but I won't update the pictures just yet. Got a lot to do and doing that would only give me a reason not to study... I have enough of those already. You can check back for the pictures in the next few days.
Only uploaded a small video of my room, as it looked today with the curtains shut. I am using the christmas lights to light up my room as the ones in the room are just too bright and remind me of hospitals. The bigger light is in the shape of the japanese character for the sun and then I just made a triangle out of the other one. That one looks kinda like a christmas tree, I see now...

I got stung by 3 flies on the 21st of December... It's frickin' December. Go to sleep, flies!!

I hope you all enjoy your holidays.
ciao
